CORONAVIRUS INFECTION : A DEADLY DISEASE How to protect oneself People should take simple precautions to reduce exposure to and transmission of this virus, for which there is no specific cure or vaccine. 1. Most importantly, ensure frequent hand washing, and rubbing hands with soap for at least 20 seconds , that is thorough hand washing is very important. Children should be taught all seven steps of thorough hand washing. 2. Alcohol based hand rub can be used where hand washing is not feasible. 3. Avoid physical contact with people , especially in public places, schools, offices, especially with persons showing signs of cough, cold and fever. 4. Avoid touching face, nose, eyes, mouth which becomes the route of entry of virus. 5. Wear face masks that cover nose and mouth adequately. This reduces transmission of virus significantly.
