STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY IN WINTER




It is a real challenge to fight the adverse temperatures in this winter season, especially for kids and elderly and those who are chronically sick. 

HERE ARE SOME TIPS TO HELP YOU IN THIS REGARD


1.First and most effective way is to wear adequate woollen clothes, head, ears, body, hands and feet should be properly covered, especially when going outdoors. Multiple layers of clothing is helpful in giving you proper insulation from the chill. 


2.Avoid going outdoors, especially when there is cold wave. Avoid outdoor exercise.Kids should be taken out only in sunshine, when available. 


3.Ensure good hydration with plenty of warm water , and warm beverages like tea, soups, herbal tea etc. Avoid caffeinated drinks and soda as they cause dehydration. 


4. Ensure good, nutritious diet rich in fruits, dry fruits, vegetables and proteins too. Intermittent munching with healthy snacks is good to give you bouts of calories needed in this cold.


 5.For those developing cold and cough, daily intake of small amount of honey, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper and saffron will help, especially small children. 


6.Try to take adequate sleep as that helps in recovery of your body from cold stress induced damage. Kids should get 8-10hrs sleep and adults at least 6-8 hrs sleep per day. 



7.Asthmatic persons should wear face masks when outside as cold air can trigger breathlessness. 


8.In case of any symptoms of cold stress like excess shivering, vomitings, pain in abdomen, loose motions, severe cough, breathlessness, dizziness, headache, mental confusion, slurred speech, excess sleepiness
